I flew in to Clearwater\St. Petersburg. Got the car and visited Clearwater Beach. Drove to Kissimmee but then I heard on the radio that there was rocket launch at the Kennedy Space Center. Well, I went there but all I saw of the launch was a bright light. It was dark and cloudy. A lit bit disappointing to say the least.
On the second day I went to the main reason for my visit to Florida: Magic Kingdom. On the left the most photographed castle of the world

Of course I went on all the famous rides such as Splash Mountain and Space Mountain. But you don't want to miss the parades. In total there two in MK and on the left is a picture of one of them. In evening there was the Main Street Electrical Parade.

All in all the park was very nicely put together. All the details were very well worked out. Even if you have to wait in line, there are many things to see. I was fortunate that the longest time I had to stand in line for one of the attractions in all the Disney parks was less than 15 minutes.

The third day it was time for Epcot, the centre of all the millennium celebrations. The "Future world" section looked cold but the "World Showcase" definitely impressed me. Here eleven countries are displaying their culture. Below on the left is the German section and on the right is the Canadian section. The World Showcase could easily have been tacky but I thought that it was very well done. In my opinion this was the best section of all the Disney Parks.

In the Mexican pavilion I found Donald Duck, my favourite character, so I couldn't resist to have a picture taken of the two of us. The previous day a picture of me and Mickey Mouse was taken but that picture wasn't clear. But let's be honest: I don't think that you can handle another picture of me with a Disney character.

The third park I visited was Disney's Animal Kingdom which can be best described as a crossing between a zoo and an amusement park. The centre of the park is the Tree of life which contains sculptures of about 325 animals.

Enough Disney. Time for something else. Something that also interests me a lot: space travel. And if you want to know more you have to visit the John F. Kennedy Space Center.

Part of the visit was a bus ride over the area. In total there were three stops on the tour. The second stop brought us to a hangar where a Saturn V rocket was displayed and let me tell you that this rocket was huge. The third stop was a visit to building where the International Space Station gets constructed.
The first stop was a observation platform. On the left you see the Vehicle Assembly Building where the Space Shuttle gets tilted and attached to the fuel rockets. In the front there is a crawler which transports the shuttle.

The crawler transports the shuttle to the launch platform over a special road. In the back you see the launch platform where a Space Shuttle is waiting for its space adventure. This picture is taken four days for the launch.

The next day I drove down to the south. The most exciting part of the day was when I got lost in Miami. It was also the only day when it rained. I visited the visitors centre of the Everglades to gather information for the next day when I returned to the park.
The Everglades National Park is the second-largest US park after Yellowstone. I went on a boat ride and did a little bit of hiking.

Just as the other parks, this park has also a parade. This one was based on Mulan.
